There’s something about saying “I’m back” that that makes Jack Nicholson’s axe-wielding character come to mind. Though at this point, I’m tempted to go with Mark Twain and say, “Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.” Ouch. To make a (very) long story short, Life Happens. What I had intended to be a short break from being online ended up being a much more lengthy absence.
Good news, though! While I was not posting a lot, I was very busy writing!!
For a previous NaNo (National Novel Writing Month), I stared at the screen blankly on October 1st. I had no motivation to work on anything I had going. I had no ideas for anything new to start on. I opened a file I keep of story ideas I have come up with over time, and a prompt of a few sentences caught my attention. I puzzled over it. It wasn’t my wolf shifter series. It wasn’t either of my fantasy-related ideas. It wasn’t my go-to romantic suspense. It was a science fiction idea with a strong romance. And suddenly, it was my NaNo project.
With a vengeance… I “won” NaNo in about three weeks. That’s getting 50,000 words on the page within the 31 days of October. By the following October, it was a series. I have had a blast with these characters! I’m still trying to figure out all the fine points, but hope to have Book 1 of The Lost Prince series out before the end of the year. It’s a bit different than my Forester books, but I’m hoping people love this series as much as they do the Foresters.
And on that front, I also have book 2 of the Forester series, Perfect Stranger, heading for publication as well.
I’m rebooting my newsletter, Worth Reading!, so if you haven’t signed up, be sure to click the popup and subscribe. I’ll be posting online more regularly as well.
In January 2026, I’ll be selling books at MarsCon (Virginia Beach, VA), as well as participating in panels there. There is basic info on the website, with more to come as I get the details filled in.
I missed connecting with my readers! I’m glad to be back, and hope to hear from you all.
